POETRY: Anonymous, she is

Anonymous, she is

She had the potential to push for change,
using the resources within her range.

But being scared of public examination,
she strived to hide her determination.

So on she went suppressing her nature,
day by day turning into a stranger.

It caused me sorrow to see such greatness,
hiding itself underneath the surface.

I spoke with her to make her see,
the strength within her, waiting to be.

From then, she rose up to the challenge,
using her skills to her people’s advantage.

She toiled and served with all that could make her,
until she went to meet her maker.

But how do they all remember this miss?
To all she served – anonymous, she is.

For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.
