Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my blog.
A little about me…
My name is Rukevwe Otive-Igbuzor, but most people call me Rukky. I am a 21-year-old Law student, writer, and singer from Delta State, Nigeria. I recently graduated from University College London (UCL) and will soon join the Nigerian Law School as a Bar I student. I am particularly interested in social justice and development, feminism and human rights, and the philosophical foundations of law. Outside of the legal world, I enjoy writing (both formal and creative) and singing.
About this blog…
I started this blog in 2013 with some random posts but I eventually deleted them and set my blog to private. However, the lockdown-induced boredom encouraged me to start blogging again (shout out to COVID-19). You might be wondering why I decided to use ‘Kiki’ as my blog name. Frankly, it was initially a pseudonym. I did not tell any of my friends or family members that I had started blogging. I wanted to be able to express my opinions freely without worrying about what people would think (this post in particular made me feel quite vulnerable). So I adopted Kiki (from the second syllable of Rukky) as my blog name.
But eventually I decided to be brave and accept that not everyone might like or agree with my opinion. What I aim to do is raise awareness and start a conversation around some issues that are important to me, so if you see anything that you disagree with, please message me and we can have a chat about it. I would love to hear your views!
There are four main categories in this blog: Lifestyle, Music, Poetry, and Feminism. Under Lifestyle, I write about things I have learned from my experiences, or things I think will benefit others. Under Music, I share songs created by me and others, including the message behind the song lyrics. Under Poetry, I express my thoughts about various issues ranging from creative writing to cooking. Under Feminism, I write about issues concerning women’s rights. I hope you enjoy what you see!
